"KEEP THE OIL IN THE GROUND" was actually inspired by one of Amazon Watch's campaign a few years back.
Ever since I was a child, I felt a deep connection between me and nature. And I was lucky enough to grow up close to it.
And when I traveled to Brazil and saw that connection, but also the devastation of oil and dams, it convinced me even further in that direction.
So I want that song to be an hymn to find in ourselves the strength to be better human beings, and the power to change things.
"We will march for the land, we will fight, we will stand!"
- J.B.D
About Amazon Watch's KEEP THE OIL IN THE GROUND Campaign :
Call for an end to Amazon oil drilling! The science is clear: we have to keep two-thirds of fossil fuels in the ground to avoid catastrophic climate change, so why are we looking for more? We need to start keeping oil in the ground, and the Amazon is a great place to start.
lyrics
Keep The Oil In The Ground
Demands come from all around
You can ignore us all
But you'll remember our call once it's gone
Keep the oil in the ground
We don't want this tumbling sound Mother Earth prevails
And is not a set of rails
For the banks
Nature, Nature, Nature prevails
Global warming's here & now
A challenge for everyone
Climate change is real
We won't wait for you to be so please be in the now
Nothing is wrong with the Earth
Just the greed of man
We do need to save the Earth
To save our children's future
Keep your faith on the straight line
Destroy dams and the pipelines
Don't part away from truth
Teach protect and heal the youth from the lies of the screen
Now keep the oil in the ground
We are lost but can be found
Gather people 'round
Even deafs will hear the sound from the ground where we stand
Nature, nature, nature prevails
Nothing is wrong with the Earth
Just the greed of man
We do need to save ourselves
Let's together break these chains
We will march for the Land
We will fight
We will stand
